Frozen was a book that was just waiting to be written. Lindsay Ashford already had a long career as a journalist behind her and a degree in Criminology but it took a crime writing course run by the Arvon Foundation in 1996 to inspire Lindsay to write her first novel.
"The course gave me the confidence to take the plunge and try to write a book...and of course get it published," she says. Frozen was published by Honno in 2003.
Much of the book is set in Wolverhampton where Lindsay grew up before becoming the first woman to graduate from Queens College at Cambridge University in its 800 year history. She then worked for the BBC before becoming a freelance journalist, writing for a number of national magazines and newspapers.
Lindsay's second crime novel featuring investigative psychologist Megan Rhys is called Strange Blood and was published in April 2005. Her third Death Studies has recently been published.
